FROM THE DESK OF DATO' SANDRA LEE
EXECUTIVE CHAIRPERSON OF PERSATUAN DAYBREAK
Christopher Reeves (1952 - 2004) once said, "I think a hero is an
ordinary individual who finds
strength to persevere and
endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles".
Here at Daybreak, we work closely with everyday heroes, our trainees. They are the ones who made a choice to bring hope and meaning back into their own lives when others saw little to none due to their disability. It is not our objective to give "hand outs" to the disabled but rather work "hands on" with them by providing vocational skills training and help bring about positive changes in to their lives through knowledge, understanding, encouragement and hope.
While we continue to grow from strength to strength and having touched the lives of over 500 individuals who were either physically or intellectually challenged, there is still much to be done. We are dedicated and passionate in finding new ways to help those in need by continuously initiating life benefiting projects together with various individuals and organizations in Malaysia and around the world in hope of achieving our vision of empowering people with disability regardless of race or creed and help them become self-reliant, independent and integrated members of society.
Just as building a home requires the skills and talents of many different individuals, so will bringing hope back into the lives of our "heroes". I encourage you to spare some time and explore our website to gain a better understanding of the work we do.
Your time, your input,
your skills, your gifts and
your social networks are greatly appreciated and will be utilized as something that will bring hope to all our trainees and everyone else here in Daybreak.
